Ilia's day job is as lead guitarist with ethnic death/thrash metal band Concrete Age. But he doesn't let that stop a little guilty pleasure moonlighting with tribute band Crazy Little Thing Called Queen. Only one guitar was going to do the job - the 2005 BMG Red Special, the only companion for a prescribed dose of Brian May at The Robin in Wolverhampton in May.

So chapeau to Thomas from Norwegian metal band Viking Queen for giving the vintage 1976 Fender Jazz Bass two stages in one day - at legendary venues The Fiddler's Elbow and Iron Maiden birthplace The Cart & Horses. Rock and roll will never die!

Hats off to Bay area singer/songwriter Ken Voorheis, returning home and taking a one-night stopover in London to play at the Ruskin House Folk & Blues Club Open Mic in Croydon. He has his own Hummingbird back in San Francisco, but loved this one more! Like he says, "It's good for the soul" 😇

Great to have Finnish band Airis back in London - a triumphant return to The Dublin Castle on 5 May 2025. A second hire for the 2006 Fender Stratocaster for Tuomas (loves it so much, he's hired it twice), and first-time hires for the 1992 Fender Telecaster for Joni (as much for its colour-match as its classic tones), and the vintage 1974 Gibson Ripper L9-S for new bass guitarist Juho - grinning from ear to ear!

The 1977 Gibson ES-335TD, 1979 Fender Black Strat, 1992 Fender Telecaster, and Marshall G10 MK II amp loved their time on camera!

If you love your guitar at home, but don't want to risk flying across the Atlantic with it, then do as Ray did - hire exactly the same model for your time in London. The gorgeous 1993 Gibson J-200 was just what she needed. Not just for her time though. She was opening the show for THE Pamela Des Barres, famed groupie to rock legends of the 60s and 70s, now a writer, podcaster, actress and in-demand story teller - this time to a packed crowd at the West Hampstead Arts Club on 2 May 2025. Proper rock and roll history!

That's right, a marriage proposal! Flying all the way from Mexico to the UK, and with the help of his sister who lives in London, Alex arranged the perfect setting and set-up for a proposal to his girlfriend. He chose the beautifully toned 1988 Martin D-35P for the moment. And . . . she said yes!!!

All hires are special, but this one had that extra sprinkling of fairy dust. Many thanks to Front Of House supremo Jonny Williams for arranging the hire of four vintage guitars for a true legend, taking a break between tour dates for a week's recording session with his band. Proper classics - the 1964 Hofner President, 1965 Gibson J-45, 1972 Fender Precision and 1974 Martin D-28 - all bringing their unique tones and years of service to the session. Wonderful!

Over from Japan, Ayako packed more into her time in London in a week than most of us do in a year of living here! Including a session recording at Abbey Road Studio 3, taking a vintage 12-string Rickenbacker 330/12 to bring some classic chime to the mix. A special thing in its own right, and just one of so many memories from a spectacular trip!

It was only a pedal . . . but it was a good one. Sax-player Laura wanted to create the illusion of two saxes playing in harmony. Nothing is impossible when you add in a Boss Harmonist PS-6. Worked a treat. To be fair, it can create some pretty bizarre intervals, but dial in what you need, and it's amazing!.
