"We were lucky enough to have this guitar with us for two days. It is such a striking instrument, everything about it: the fretboard with the inlays, the body, the beautiful Bigsby bridge... It is really magical. And the tone - it's incredible: warm and well rounded, even with distortion. It is classy. With this guitar in our hands we could not resist the temptation to record the iconic "Californication" solo, and we had fun by doing a back to back comparison of the White Falcon vs a Stratocaster, and see whether people could tell the difference."
Delighted to have two guitars - the first of a few pairings - feature in a fascinating project by the guys at Guitarearo. They're seeking to record and compare the characteristic sound and tone of a number of classic guitars, making their recordings available via their Guitarearo app. For this first session, it was the turn of the 1985 Rickenbacker 330 and the 1990 Gretsch 7594 White Falcon - both loved, but for me that Californication solo wins it. Many thanks to Laurent for going the extra mile while curating this year's AGM night at Somerset House. French singer/songwriter Nenni was very specific about which guitar she wanted: a Graham Coxon signature Telecaster. Produced only for a limited run around 2011 - which is a great shame, because they really are fantastic guitars. Not so easy to find, but delighted to bestow the appearance of magical powers on Laurent for having sourced an exact match to Nenni's request ;-).

"I came from the US to play for part of my daughter's wedding ceremony, Iain suggested several possibilities based on my requirements. I hired the acoustic six string Gibson Hummingbird with an internal pickup it's sound was delicious and it's appearance sparkling. People noticed and loved the signature hummingbird pick guard. Iain was stellar - conscientious and accommodating. He personally delivered and picked up and even went the extra mile to source some cable converters I needed! I highly recommend Iain and Gods Own Guitars."

An absolute pleasure to catch up with US multi-musician Jay Kearney on his return to London in October. A lovely man, with stories to tell. And a big fan of the Little Martin too, renewing his acquaintance with the guitar while over. I just love it when someone says they're thinking of buying their own once back home!

Multi-musician Jaan Hoogendoorn was looking for an amp to fill an open mic room without the need to run it through a PA. The 2005 Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410 delivered. Or, as Jaan more correctly puts it, more than delivered. For an amp that goes to 12, he didn't need to push it beyond 4 ;-). Love it!

Another of those hires where you just can't be anything other than impressed by the self-assurance and talent of the next generation of singer/songwriters. Big thanks to Reuben from Germany for taking the 1997 Yamaha LA-8 out for a tour of open mic venues while in London. So good, one of the venues has offered him a paid gig for his return!

Thanks to Santi from Spanish shoegazers Masking Girlfriend for hiring the 1996 Fender Jag-Stang for bandmate Ratchet Racer to play at their London debut early in October. Add in the Fender Jaguar and two amps hired by bandmate Tomas, they had the blast they absolutely hoped for!

Max and Quentin at events management company Magnetic Live needed a Stratocaster at short notice for Spanish band Iseo & Dodosound, headlining The Jazz Cafe on 30 September 2025. For the launch of Courtney Hadwin's debut album at The Waiting Room on 15 September, band guitarist Orlando hired the 2006 Gibson Hummingbird for producer and co-writer Kevin Rowe, joining Courtney and band on stage for their song Wild Things. Absolutely electric set, tight and powerful. Loved the Hummingbird being there, but loved Courtney's vocals and Orlando's fretwork more!

Lucy and Patch at Biscuit Filmworks needed a Les Paul for one of their film directors, over in London for a month of shooting. The guitar wasn't for the shoot itself, just for his pleasure. And the 1996 Gibson Les Paul Classic Goldtop did the job perfectly - always delivers!

Not only did Antony hire the 1972 Fender Precision, he hired the 1982 Precision at the same time, for an A-B test. For the tone and attack he was after it was the 1972 that won the day. Now part of the soundtrack to what's bound to be one of the biggest films of 2026 . . . No spoilers, but the story continues!
