Hirer Feedback

Don't take my word for it.  This is what matters most!

"I recently rented this '82 Precision Bass for a performance at SXSW, and it performed flawlessly. As a P-Bass fan, I could immediately tell this instrument is exceptionally well-maintained. The string tension was perfect, the clean maple neck felt highly comfortable, and shaping the tone was entirely effortless. It has that broken-in quality that makes it feel familiar right away. I also greatly appreciated Ian's accommodation; he was highly cooperative and helped me adjust the pickup cover to suit my playing preference. It's clear this bass receives serious care, and I would certainly rent it again."

More than grateful to Cactus For Breakfast bassist Thomas for this review. It touches on the many things I try to do to make the hiring experience a positive one, so just delighted it ticked all the boxes for the band's UK debut at SXSW - and the audience loved it too!

"Dealing with Iain was amazing. The bass is perfect. Great experience! Strongly recommended."

All the way from Rome to Amy Winehouse's beloved Camden, tribute band Amy Affairs played the legendary Dublin Castle in mid-June. A bold move, a successful move - super-talented band and singer! Many thanks to Simone for giving the 1976 Fender Jazz Bass and, for guitarist Rob, the 1984 Epiphone Sheraton their time on stage with the band.

"Great amp and great service from Iain as usual. Always on time and very communicative - we always appreciate how easy he is to work with and will continue working with him in the future!"

Great to help out Parkgate School once again with their end of term concert. A repeat hire for the 2010 Peavey MAX 115 bass amp and a first hire for the 1990s Fender Champion 110 - an amp that I used to use for gigging back in the 00s. Never judge an amp by its size - this one packs a punch!

"Iain is a legend, the Twin was ready to go and the service is great :)"

Producer and player Finn Billingham needed a clean channel amp to A/B swap with his Fender Hot Rod DeVille for Shrunken's gig at Bermondsey Social Club in June. He couldn't have made a better choice than the 2005 Fender 65 Twin Reverb - beautiful clear tones above Shrunken's dynamic wall of sound!

"A super playable instrument that Iain had ready to go right out of the case. The smaller neck made it feel really agile and I was very impressed with the richness of tone. Paired with the Fishman humbucker pickup, this guitar served excellently for my performance and will likely be my first choice next time. Plus, delivery and pickup were a breeze and Iain was always reachable for any questions. I highly recommend working with Iain for any of your guitar rental needs!"

That 1997 Yamaha LA-8 punches above its weight once again! Thanks very much to guitarist and producer Christian DeKnatel, flying in from Miami to join Ana Villafane and band for a night of Cuban classics at The Pheasantry in Chelsea. What a voice, and what a band - just wonderful!

"Super guitar and super service. Iain is a great communicator and really helped out my band when we came into London to play a show.  This telecaster is top notch and is everything you want out of a classic Tele."

Big thanks to Shane, Robin & Thomas of Berlin-based Cactus For Breakfast for their bundle hire, as they made their London debut at SXSW in June. A high-energy set to a crowd that absolutely loved their singalong surf/indie sound. Delighted they chose a trio of Fenders to share the stage: the 1982 P-Bass for Thomas, 1992 Tele for Shane, and 2006 Strat for Robin. Watch out for their return - they are magnificent!

"Guitar was in great condition and set up well, quick and easy collection and drop off, would highly recommend!!"

With bandmate Dean hiring the EB-3, Sweet Neptune frontman and self-proclaimed offset lover had to have the 1997 Fender 62 Reissue Jazzmaster. I asked him why he didn't choose the Fender JagStang, but apparently that's a step too far, even for offset lovers ;-). That explained, it could only be the Jazzmaster - and he loved it!

"I had a fantastic experience renting this bass. Iain was incredibly friendly and courteous throughout the entire process. Communication was super easy, and he made everything so smooth and straightforward. Highly recommend!"

A pleasure to help Belfast band Sweet Neptune as they made their London debut at the legendary Dublin Castle. Bass guitarist Dean plays a Mustang at home, so hired the similarly short-necked Gibson EB-3 for the gig. And, by the way, Sweet Neptune's "Pints of G (And The Late Night Chippy)" is an absolute blast. No wonder the crowd loved their set!

"I recently reached out to Iain to explore renting an acoustic guitar for my trip to London so I could continue practicing. Since I've started to relearn the guitar after decades of not playing, building up calluses and continuing practice is very important to me. Iain was extremely responsive, and he suggested the Little Martin as a very affordable option. I really appreciate how how helpful he was!"

Very grateful to Kevin for the feedback. Visiting from the US, in the end he was able to borrow a guitar from a friend rather than hire. I didn't do any more than help him through the process and the options - but still lovely to get his unprompted feedback!

"The Fender Champion 110 was great! Thank you so much Iain!"

Hernan needed a small amp to practise for a week ahead of a work event in London. The Fender Champion 110 ticked all the boxes!

"Great all round!  Very helpful, organised and up for communicating the specific things that need working out!"

Great to be able to help out local artist and musician Arthur Bently with the launch of his book Comber House and LP of the same name at Spanners in Brixton late in May. Just an amp, but an almighty one, the 2005 Fender Hot Rod DeVille 410. Risked blowing the rest of the band away, but fortunately comes with fully functional volume controls ;-).

"Iain was super helpful and accommodating, couldn't recommend a better person to hire from - will 100% be using again in the future."

Many thanks to Michael at Biscuit Filmworks, needing a guitar and small amp for one of their directors, over in London for a couple of weeks filming, and looking to fill any downtime with his practice routine. He chose the classic combination of the 2006 Fender Stratocaster and 1990s Fender Champion 110 - quiet enough for a hotel room, while still having all the tone to bring a smile to your face!

"Iain was very helpful in assisting my request to have the Martin available at my lodging location. The “Little Martin” was in perfect condition and gave me the opportunity to continue my practice while on vacation. It was the perfect companion for a traveler in a small hotel room! Thanks again for making this available."

Turns out Dan was visiting London during one of the hottest May week's on record, so even more of a blessing to have a guitar to play in his air-conditioned room in between sights. Just as he says, the Martin LX-1 really was "the perfect companion" :-).

"A beautiful instrument that I thoroughly enjoyed playing for a couple of weeks. Thank you Iain for your flexibility and advice. I look forward to doing this again."

Always wonderful when a hirer loves the guitar so much they want to go out and buy their own. The 2006 Martin D-18VS, recreating the 12-fret D-18s from the early-1930s, did exactly that for hirer Frederic, over for a couple of weeks from Singapore. Sadly, Martin don't make them any more, so he's on the look-out - and in the meantime may just have to hire again on his return!

"Iain, thanks again for excellent service and all your care and support. The Millman Dreadnought was amazing and I loved having it up on stage. I had the Millman tuned down a full step… and the Taylor 414 in standard tuning. I invested in an ABY switch to swap between the guitars and the album launch gig went like a dream. Always a pleasure to work with Iain and God's Own Guitars - Thanks again mate! And already looking forward to the next time 😊"

Inspirational hire! Back in October 2025, singer/songwriter Nigel Mear, aka Night Hours, hired the 1989 Rickenbacker 330/12 to add some additional chime to a couple of the tracks he was recording for his album, Yet So Much. For the album launch, in May 2026, he borrowed the 2016 Millman Dreadnought for rehearsals and a couple of songs on the night. Songs that he's been nurturing for a lifetime, now out there in the world. A proper inspiration!
